Supplements for a 14 yr old retired jumper

I recently adopted a horse that I feel might have arthritis in his back legs. He is a retired jumper ( retired due to pulled tendon in back right leg ) and the rescue I adopted him from said they had him on Cosequin and Cetly M but then he was taken off of it when moved to another pasture to rest. I have been looking into supplements after hearing a very loud clicking sound in both his back legs. When I went to see him the first time and rode him, I didn't hear any clicking ( or maybe didn't pay close attention to it ). It wasn't until the day after I brought him home ( a 4 hr trailer ride ) did I notice the clicking.

I know he has been running alot with my 3 yr old and wondered if a supplement might help with the clicking? Given his age and his injury I feel like a supplement either way would do good but what supplement is my question? There seems to be so many out there and I wondered what everyone thought of these 2:

MSM from Smartpak

or

Joint Combo Hoof Care that can be bought at TSC

Any others that are around $ 30-40 a month would be greatly appreciated!

I have been using Smartpaks "Smart MSM" for about 8 months now, and noticed a difference in my mare in the first week. She has a prior hock injury and some stifle issues (stifle issues passed down from mom), and would be pretty stiff at times. When I started the MSM I noticed in the first week she was feeling better..she was much more fluid and just seemed to move easier. She is my 15 year olds horse and while sound to ride I did want to give her something to help her joints, and MSM has worked great.

That's what I have heard but having never owned a horse over the age of 9, I had no clue which to choose but I am leaning more towards the Smart MSM and put it on the auto-order because I know I would forget when to go and get more if I had to buy it at the store.

I also tried the smarttendon for awhile but it was slightly more expensive..and had half the amount of MSM that the Smart MSM had. I thought she responded better to the higher amount of MSM, and since I also have a couple more horses on supplements (have a easy keeper on their ez keeper supplements to ensure he gets what he needs) it worked better for me and she loves the taste of the pellet version they have. And I love the smartpaks..very convenient and if someone else has to ever feed my horses, already measured and their name is on the package. And even though you are getting the reoccuring smartpaks, its easy to change it to something else the next month if the MSM isnt working, but I know it will help. And they have various supplements to try in a vast range of prices, which I think is great.

I am using Smartflex Repair. It is a little pricey but seems to be worth it!
