what western saddles do you recommend?
So i ride english but have been doing a little western riding cause my friend has gotten me a little addicted ... i am going to look into buying a saddle and am wondering what WESTERN saddles people recommend and i am looking for one that i can just ride is. i don't plan on roping or trail riding .. just arena riding ... i don't want to spend more then $500 or $600 too ...
let me know! :P
If your just arena riding I think you'd want a trail saddle, they are the most comfortable. Here is a link for just western pleasure trail saddles. Trail saddles are very general and are comfy because they are made for sitting in for long periods of time. I would also suggest a synthetic if your not doing showing, but watch the name. Some synthetics are poo as with any saddle.
Those are some fairly priced saddles.
Try e-bay if you trust it.
If there are any good tack store around go there and try saddles. At least you'll have feeling what you'll like. It's impossible to advice on any saddle as what I like you may feel uncomfortable in. For example, I didn't like Circle Y (which is expensive one). And personally I can't ride in Abetta, because it makes me sit in wrong position. However lots of people like Abetta and it's on cheaper side (under $500). I bought Alamo pleasure trail and it's comfortable, but I tried Alamo show saddle and it felt uncomfortable for me to sit in. Saddle is very individual thing. :)
Ok heres my two cents. If you wanna be in prober position don't buy an abetta or an alamo. They push you legs forward and set you body out of position. I was giving lessons to a girl with and alamo and a guy with an abetta, I made them both sell them and get new saddles because they put them in bad position, and I find abettas don't fit your horse well. When you look for a saddle, find somethind that will fit you horse perfectly and put you legs underneath you, I wouldn'y get something off the internet if you've never bought a saddle before, but something like this http://www.chicksaddlery.com/Merchan...ct_Code=RK1965
those saddles are really comfy and they fit the horses well, I have two myself. If you don't like the way they look, try something like this
notice how both of these saddle will put you in position.
I reccomend looking at billy cooks, I know I haven't ridden a Billy Cook saddle I didn't like (except for their cutting saddles are CRAP) but for trail and pleasure they are great.
try horse.com i got my black synthetic leather barrel saddle on there for 300 dollars they have great prices.
