mosquito problem

Hi, I just recently got a horse. We keep her here at my house. Unfortunately, where I live is rice farming country. So basically, the fields hold water and do not drain. We just had a lot of rain recently, so the mosquito population has sky rocketed. This morning, I went out to feed the horse and the poor baby was COVERED in mosquitos! She was miserable. I put some fly spray on and it killed the ones that were on her when I sprayed, but then a whole new swarm jumped on as if I had never sprayed.

So, what brand of spray should I use on her? Also, is there anything I can spray the field with? Obviously with her grazing on it, the spray needs to be safe.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

The mosquitos are terrible around here too. Make sure the grass in and around your paddock is not too long, mosquitos like foilage. If possible, stable her overnight, or at least dusk/dawn when they are at their worst. For some reason, the mosquitos rarely go in the barn. If she cannot be indoors, have her wear a fly sheet and mask to minimize the exposed body parts.
You should do a search on this forum about effective fly/mosquito sprays, there are some good home made recipes that include using apple cider vinegar and Avon Skin So Soft.
