Onyx rubbed out a huge chuck on his mane... help?
So Onyx has a huge show the end of next month and he went and rubbed a large chuck on his mane out... is there anything you guy's know of that will make it grow back faster? I'm hoping maybe we can get it long enough that I might be able to do little braids or something with it... ugh, what a pain...
Also it wasn't braided before he rubbed it out so I'm not sure what he did, one day he has a nice full mane the next day half of it was gone... we tried a running braid, it kinda worked but it comes out really easily if he put's his head done or turns his head... HELP??
Aw, poor Onyx. LOL. He just knew you wanted him to look good for the show and did it on purpose :D. No suggestions on getting it to grow quicker but would it be an option to roach the rest of it so at least it would be all the same length come show time?
Maybe by the time the show rolls around it will be long enough to slather in hair gel and it may stay?. . .
I am going to cut it but I don't want him to have no mane at all so I'm going to wait tell the rubbed off part gets a few inces long.

What is it with these Arabs?! Zierra did almost the exact same thing in the exact same spot - hers was a little smaller with shorter chunks, but it's taken me almost a friggin year to grow it out the same length as the rest of her mane.
Chunk missing (it's dark, but you can see the big chunk that's nothing but wispy bits left):
There's no way you can do a half-assed comb over? He seems to have a ton of mane like Zierra does, and there was enough left on the other side to sort of pull it over and "patch it up" so to speak. Or is it all just absolutely gone, period?
I wish there had been a little hair left but it's totally gone... Once it grows out a little bit I think I'm just going to cut it all unless the running braid will stay in, I could probably make the running braid work for the show but I would have to re-do it after every class and it's such a pain to do it, onyx is a little hyper and doesn't like to stand still for as long as it takes me to do it...
Here is a picture I took of him today after I tried the running braid, it came out after a few minute's but looked okay tell it came out, I was thinking that I could braid in a long black string that would help the two parts stay together, maybe?
Could you get some black yarn and unravel it and then start braiding it in several braids before the gap and end it several after so you have something to keep the hair a bit more secure in that area?
That works! haha
What kind of show are you going to? I don't think that there would be any problems at an open show, but isn't the arab assoc. a little funny about mane braiding? or is it just purebreds? I'm assuming Onyx is a purebred, he sure is a nice looking guy.
Try some different things when it gets closer to show time. Use different strings and yarn, try hair spray and gels, My aunt sprayed her hair with Aqua Net back in the 60's and it hasn't moved yet.
