Horse Conformation Critique
How do these guys look?
Cholo-- 3 year old buckskin QH gelding. He's new, and was quite thin recently and has gained some weight! Yay! How does he look conformation wise, weight wise?
Freckles- 6 year old chestnut QH gelding.
I really like Freckles' conformation! Cholo is a cutie as well, though I don't think he is quite as well built~ his back looks a little hollow, and his shoulder seems a bit apright. He doesn't look underweight.
Oh, and Cholo's rear looks quite a bit higher than his wither~ I'd guess he will be growing more soon!
Cloe doesn't look underweight to me but he could sure use some muscle! I assume his whonky confirmation is because he is still growing? He's a gorgeous color though, he will be stunning when you are through conditioning him and he's fully grown and filled out!
Freckles is adorable - looks like he's in really good shape!
They both have lovely heads/faces too which is something that I think is so important :)
Thanks so much, you guys. Yeah, now that I look at the pictures of Cholo I see what you mean about the conformation. Well, we'll see... hopefully he'll grow into a more proportioned fellow.
Any ideas for exercises to strengthen them up(especially Cholo)? I'm glad to hear he isn't overweight, though.
Freckles also has some pretty bad cracks in his hooves. He's shod and everything, but these cracks aren't very pretty. Will regular hoof polish do the trick or should I use something more serious?
