Chewing On The Bit?

My horse Lakota, is always playing with the bit. I ride him in a slow twisted snaffle. His teeth were looked at on Tuesday, they were pretty bad but she said he should be fine now. He still plays with the bit and it really annoys me. Is it just a bad habit or is there something I can do? Thanks! =)

I rode a horse that played with his bite all the time. It gets really annoying! For him it was just a habit its seem like when he didnt know what to do he would start playing with the bit most of the time it was when we were at a halt.

Hmm, i would get a noseband (if you dont already have one)
and try to keep his mind busy (it may not be the reason) but i know a lot of horses that chew on the bit like that because they are bored. :)

Yes I do

I ride a mare that seems to constantly stick her tongue and sometimes bites the bit to pull it out of my hands and we switched her to a flash noseband to try to break the habit. Even just a dropped noseband might help keep your horse's mouth closed a bit more so he can't chew?

Get a mullen mouth. My horse did the same thing untill I switched the bit.
