ok this may not be the right place for this but anyway. i have a 19 yr old thoroughbred who hurt his fetlcok about 6 months ago. he was un rideable for 3 months and i have ridden a bit during the 3 months. i rode him the other day and did a small jumps. and when i say a small jump i mean lyk basically a pole...anyway he seemed to buck a bit after he jumped. do you reckon working him alot and strengthening it up will work or hell never be able to jump again? any help much appreciated.
if he has been out of work for that long he is going to have to work back up to things like jumping. he will be weak in that leg especially so you will need to build it all up again. plenty of groundwork, trotting and maybe some trot poles but do as much as you can on the ground. jumping so soon after a bad injury could be really harmful for your horse.
good luck with him :)
My rule of thumb on such matters is....When in doubt, don't.
thanks. no my mum said try him over that pole which he kinda jumped over and yeah but i just said ill leave it and work him into it again.
