I've always wondered what the 'fox tail' type things are that some barrel racers put on their horse's cinch... I asked one of the girls that was using one what is was for and she said she has no clue

I don't know about actual fox tails. But I do know about shoo flys under the belly. http://www.showtailsrus.com/sitebuil...flynatural.jpg
They are used to keep flys away from legs so your horse isn't stoping all around when on a trail ride or working on a ranch or whatever. I have one on my cinch and it works wonders :-D

Wonder if it's the same idea.. but why in barrel racing?

Must be a 'look bling bling' thing that they seem to do haha.

Its to keep flys away its not just in barrel racing many others do it also. But barrel racers half the time probably just use it for looks. No offense to anyone im a barrel racer to and knowone here can deny some girls by things they dont need just to look cooler.
