What would you call this marking?
Sonya has this marking on her neck. I am not sure what to call it. I don't think it would be classified as a paint marking, since it isn't white. She is an appaloosa cross, but I don't think it is an Appaloosa marking either... So I am not sure what this is called :?
Thanks for any input!
Are you sure it isn't from something rubbing on her and killing the pigment? It is at about the same place the buckle would be if her head was up.
Well, I have had her since she was 18 months old. And she had it then. There was no evidence of it being an injury, but I guess anything is possible. She did have a year and a half previously to injure herself.
Although wouldn't it be white if she had rubbed it?
Here is the best pic I have of her with her head up
hmmm.. could a bloody shoulder on a darker horse be lighter in color instead of brown like one a grey horse??
Could be a random 'roaning' type pattern...she's only four right? She might get more as she gets older, seeing as she is part appy, she could get alot of them, hahaha.
What about a bird catcher spot?
I don't think it could be a bloody shoulder reverse thing... because a bloody shoulder is just excessive flea bites which is only on greys... right?
It's an app spot if you ask me.
The Pintoloosa I ride has one very similar to that on her hindquarters. It isn't white but is definately a different color than the rest of her coat.
If she was a goat I'd call it a moonspot!
Well she has had it since I got her when she was 18 months old, and it hasn't changed shape.
The first pic is when she was 2, and the others are from this year. She is 4 now.
Eliz- I don't think she could have a Birdcatcher Spot because I am pretty sure she doesn't have any Thoroughbred in her. She doesn't look like she is part Thoroughbred.
It doesn't look like a Birdcatcher Spot, to me any way. Birdcatcher Spots look like this:
