New saddle needs special pad
My horse Auda is half Belgian half QH so she has a really wide back. I've tried a couple different wide and extra wide saddles, English and Western, but they were all too small. Yesterday, I got her a western draft saddle which is a really close fit but is just a little too big. I'm thinking I need to get her a build-up pad or and under pad or something to fill that extra space. I have no idea where to look, though, or even what they're really called or what to look for in a good one.
I was thinking something like this:
except I don't have $153 to spend and I don't use sheepskin or other animal products.
I honestly think you should get a properly fitting saddle that doesn't need a thick pad or lifter but I understand money so heres my idea.
Look into that bad, since you don't use animal products, the leather wears aren't even leather! Its pricey but it seems worth it, especially since its custom fitted.
Wintec saddles can fit most horses, but you may need to pay about 400 dollars, but it may be worth it. Not sure. :?
I don't think I'm gonna find a saddle that fits her better than this one. It's only a little off. But yeah, if I had the money I'd get her a custom made fitted one. As long as this saddle isn't make her sore and is distributing the weight properly it'll work. Looking at the saddle again, I think the pad in the link that I put up would've been too much padding.
horseylover, I tried a Wintec Wide on her before, and it was too small. The thing about Wintecs and their easy change gullet system is changing the gullet really isn't changing the size of the saddle, it's just changing the gullet which doesn't guarantee a fit because you can't change the back.
Thanks for the link, but I think I found a pad that should work for her. heh, I've been scowering the internet all day to find something.
