How can I reduce scarring on my gelding?
This morning I woke to find that my horses had kicked out a couple boards in my barn and my 2 year old colt managed to gouge himself along his rib cage. It is not very deep but it's still a pretty nasty scratch. I cleaned it out and put antibiotic cream on it. Is there any way to minimize the amount of scarring? I would really appreciate any suggestions
I've heard that putting MTG on healed sores can help the hair grow back the correct color instead of white regrowth but I'm not sure if that helps :)
Edit: But only use MTG affffffter it's completely healed!
Vitamin E Oil on the skin once it is healed helps with scarring.
I started using Vetericyn this summer. My mare had rubbed a raw place on her face last week. After using it for a couple of days, the spot looked good. As I just started using this stuff, I can't give a solid review on it. But so far, so good. One problem, it's $35 for a 16oz spray bottle. But if it continues to work as advertised, it will be worth the money and I'll keep using it.
