$6 wool saddle blankets
I just bought a nice grey 100% wool saddle blanket for my horse, and it cost me 6 dollars.I have been looking at tack shops for pads and blankets and have been disgusted by the prices, then I was in the local thrift store when I noticed a ton of old wool blankets.Wool ones, cotton ones, all sorts of different colours shapes and sizes.Just fold them up to the appropriate size and you have a beautiful saddle blanket. I just can't believe I got a pure wool blanket for six dollars, what a deal !!
So if anybody is looking for a nice saddle pad, take a look throught the local thrift store, you may be surprised by what you find.

those old wool blankets you are talking about, I used to use those ALL the time. I would actually put velcro on them and use them for stable blankets. They worked great.
