terrible

not sure if this is in the right place

Im just so shocked !
ok, so there was a man somewhere in Iceland who was just going to feed his neighbors horses(not sure why ) and he found a dead mare ! First he thought she had just died of natural causes but as he took a closer look, guess what he found !
A BULLET HOLE ! below her ear !! :o
people think that someone had been lighthunting(loosly translated) wich is when people drive around with a bright light and if they see an eye sparkle in the dark they shoot it ! this is ofcourse completly illegal :!: the mare had probably been lying down when she was shot !
And there are alot of horses almost everywhere in the country so lighthunting is VERY dangerous!
And guess what, this was an expensive breeding mare in foal !
Im just so shocked something like this can happen in little Iceland

That is awful  I worry about that every hunting season, that a stray shot will hit one of my horses. They lighthunt here too I have always called it shining. It is also illegal here, usually some drunk, bored idiot looking for something to do. We live on a road that goes to a local lake so we get a lot of city people driving by in the summer, drinking beer and throwing the bottles out in the pasture. I always wonder if they are sometimes aiming at the horses.

Oh my gosh, that's awful. Can they press charges at all?

sadly this is not the first time I have heard of things like this.

I read a story about some people (hoodlums) that took target practice on a field full of horses and killed two of them "for the fun of it".

Very scary indeed.

Oh that is awful. Poor mare. Chances are it was not a long shot to have been that accurate. People who have no care for life it seems never really do take the time to learn how to handle firearms correctly, accurately, and safely.

That is one reason why we:

Never ignore the dogs.
Always have a firearm handy.
and Keep the High Powered Spotlight Charged.

My neighbors are idiot rednecks with no care for life that I wouldn't put it past them to try something like that.

Me too, My husband works the night shift so I'm alone. I like to keep the rottweiler at the foot of the bed and the pistol on the night stand.
