Your Favorite Famous Horse!

6 Attachment(s)
Who is your favorite famous horse?
Be he/her a racehorse, show horse, jumper, reiner or barrel horse!
Tell us about them; their history & why you love them & let's see pics!

Mine, personally, is the great Man O' War :D
Born in 1917, within 3 short years he became known as one of the greatest (voted greatest racehorse of the 20th century by the Bloodhorse) racehorses of all time.
Sired by Fair Play (son of Hastings, who was considered one of the most ill-tempered thoroughbreds) and out of the Rocksand mare Mahuba, he was sold to Sam Riddle as a yearling, who once considered making him into a hunt horse if he didnt do well on the track lol. He ran only stakes races & his first race he won by six lengths; finishing at a canter.
All in all, he raced 21 times, winning 20. He came in 2nd only once to a horse named Upset (who he beat on 6 other occasions). He broke 8 records, winning one race by an estiamted 100 lengths & then beating Triple Crown-winner Sir Barton in his final match race, which took place in Canada!
He was retired after his 3-year-old season because Riddle feared the handicappers would place far greater weights on him & he was already carrying more than most 4-year-olds. He sired 64 stakes champions including War Admiral & Hard Tack (sire of Seabiscuit). Man O' War died at the ripe old age of 30. Millions of people visited him at his stable preceding his death & is now buried at the Kentucky Horse Park beneath his lifesized statue. His groom, Will Harbut always called him "Da Mostest Hoss".

Man-O-war has been my favorite famous horse since I was 11yro. I went to kentucky and visited his statue with my mom and bought a breyer model horse of him which I still have to this day in my room.
<3

But other than man-o-war.

My favorite famous horse is 'Master Jay'
1986; Sorrel Stallion out of the great Colonel freckles X Missy Jay.
Standing at 15HH he was one of the greatest cutters.
MASTER JAY (IMP) LTE $24, 468 cutting and reining
AQHA Reserve World Champion Reining Horse.
Valley QHA Reining sweepstakes Champion.
San Joaquin Open Reining Champion, and more.

A PROVEN SIRE WITH PROGENY EARNINGS OF OVER $186,000. ALSO A PROVEN MATERNAL GRANDSIRE.

Unfortunately Master Jay had to be humanely put down due to kidney failure.

The grand reason he is my favorite....
He's my Twinkie's sire.

Yup he's my horses daddy :]

We can only pick just one?

Well then, I must say I am particularly partial to King P-234

Some history:
King is a leading Quarter Horse sire and is considered by most the standard of breed perfection. He was a ranch horse, doing everything from cutting to reining. He was known for passing on his wonderful dispostion and willingness, as well as his beautiful conformation.

The reason He is my Favorite:
1.) How much more sexy can a quarter horse get? :D
2.) I absolutely love reining horses.
3.) He sired Poco Bueno, who is probably #1.5 on my list of favorite horses.

In that case.....

My other favorite (as stated before) is Poco Bueno

He was an amazing cutting horse. He was the first Quarter horse to be insured for $100,000. His grave marker states "Champion and sire of Champions". The reason Poco Bueno is one of my favorites is because he really is a sire of champions. I have yet to see a horse out of the Poco Bueno bloodlines that fails to be an exceptional cutting horse.

And here he is:
