Last night a young couple pulled up to the barn, explaining that they can't afford their horse and they want a good home for him. I have extra room, so I thought I'd try him out.
He is a dun QH gelding, unregistered (thought I'm trying to find more info about that). I'm told he's 4. They said that he was used on a ranch to work cattle before they got him. The rode him some, mainly in the round pen as I understand. He is pretty shy, and a bit nervous (he's knew I know, but fact that he sort of cowers around me is sort of odd). I just took pasture pictures because I want him to settle in before I take him to the barn. He's in pretty good condition, he mainly just needs a small hoof trim.
Sorry that the photos are bad/small... my camera broke so I had to do mobile uploads. Oh, and he has a brand, is there any way to track where he came from?
Tell me whatcha think! :)
I'm no good at critique, but...he's pretty cute and looks sweet. Good for you and them for doing a good thing.

He is a cute little horse. He seems a bit angular (shoulder and croup are awfully straight), but nothing too terrible. As for the brand, it is unlikely that you would be able to find out anything about him unless you knew which state and county he came from. I think each county (or at least every state) has their own brand registry thing so I could have the exact same brand as someone from new mexico and someone from utah and someone from virginia.
I think he's sturdy enough to have a job :)
Oh, absolutely!! The only drawback might be that he is a little rough to ride. :D
