Hi all i have a mare who is a good barrel racing the only problem are her starts they are slow then after the first turn she's a rocket help please

Practice sprints. Not just walk to canter...walk to full gallop. No turning just sprints. When you lay your legs on her, you want her blasting out.

I agree with corniowalk. Also you could just set up first barrel but a little more in the center, run in and turn and run like you are going to second then run on the rail and when you get to the gate don't slow down just go to the barrel again and do the same thing.

I used to have the same problem. I put the first barrel father ahead and a little into the center of the arena, it helped soo much. After I started this exersize, I took off 2 seconds of my regular time!!! The only problem is, you don't want to do this exersize to often, I did it about 1-2 times a week. It helps if you have a larger arena too.
