New Hunter/Western Show Gelding
So here is the new gelding I am going to be riding in shows along with Beamer. I have a show in September that I will be taking him to because he is more used to being out and about places, whereas Beamer hasn't been off the property in four years so I want to take her to practice at some places before trying to show her.
So this is Duster, not sure how old he is actually. But he is a Quarter Horse gelding that my trainer is most likely going to buy for her son as a trail horse. But when he isn't being used for trails I am allowed to take him to shows and such.
^^Please no critique on this, just posted it to show you how I look on him, my trainer is working with me on his collection. He is beautiful for her, I just need to learn how to ask him for it.
He is originally a western horse and she said that he goes better western but that it shouldn't be too hard for us to train and show him as a B rated hunter.
You must mean QH cross? QH can't be colored like a Paint/pinto.
He definitely needs work on that neck and is a little long in the barrel it seems, but otherwise he looks uber cute. I'm such a sucker for Palomino Paints it's not even funny anymore
Yep, you are right. I just read my rule book, but as it says, it is undesirable and states so on the certificate. My mistake.
"Such markings are uncharacteristic of the breed and are considered to be undesirable traits.
The following notification shall be placed on registration certificates of horses exceeding these marking
"This horse has white markings designated under AQHA rules as an undesirable trait and
uncharacteristic of the breed.""
Yeah before my trainer got him he had been sitting in a pasture and not properly worked in really who knows how long. He was mainly used as a kids jump on and not really ride type of horse. Now that she has him we are going to working on muscling him up. She has only had him less than two months and has decided to really work with him and me because I took a liking to him.
I won't be doing any high level showing, at least not on him. He is going to be more of a fun schooling show and possibly B rated show gelding. I might see how he does on barrels and such ;] since he is originally a western guy, this is probably the first time he has ever been ridden english. He is registered also so when she gets his papers I can post his lineage.
