Wintec 500 - Saddle Sizes??????
I am looking at buying a wintec 500 with cair 2nd hand, it is an 18".
Does anyone know about saddle sizes - due to me working/riding at a riding school i use many different horses. So i really cant fit it to the horse like usuall.
I am 15yo a strong build, 78kg, and 176cm tall.
Would an 18" be too big for me.
Well, I was going to say that an 18" saddle is pretty big...but then I did the math and you are pretty tall! I'm really bad at metric...good ol' US education! Anyways...you're about 5'9" and might actually be good in an 18. I am about 5'3" (162cm) and ride in a 16 or 16.5.
The Wintec 500 doesn't look to have super forward flaps, so I think even in an 18 your knee will still be on the padded part of the flap. Unless you have really short legs for your height. Plus, you're only 15 and you may get taller or fill out more as you mature. And it's usually okay for an English saddle to be a little too big...too small sucks though!!
yer i have been told that the bigger the saddle the better lol.
But yer my legs are pretty long so i hope it fits lol
i'm 5'10 and i ride in a 16.5 english saddle
Your height sometimes has nothing to do with the saddle. Some people are 5ft 2''(me) and ride in an 18" English Saddle. I have a big bum and I need the space for it. Height sometimes has nothing to do it with it, I actually had to special order my stirrups cuz they didn't' make any stirrups in 54" for the 18" saddles, it only came with 58" stirrups. :|
If i was you i would go into a saddlery and sit on one to see for size.
Mmm.. I'd have to disagree. The saddle that fits you best is the best saddle. I have a 17" eventing saddle, and it fits perfectly. Any bigger or smaller would look silly.
Thanks to everyone who replied.
I have now bought my saddle it is an 18" Wintec 500 with cair.
