What breed did you start riding on
Sure, when we were all little, we did pony rides at the fair, on Grandpa's farm horse, etc. but what breed did you actually start riding/taking lessons on? The first pony I ever actually rode was a 12hh Hackney Pony! I know it's a weird breed to start out on, but she was really nice pony :D

Quarter Horses! My first real ride on a horse was on a sorrel QH gelding named Smoke. I wish I had some pictures of him.
Anyway...I love Quarter horses. And I prefer them to all other breeds, but I wouldn't object to a paint, mustang, or a blanketed appaloosa

a good old QH named tacky. She took care of me better then any horse. Me and my cousin liked to gallop around the ranch, and she never said no. LOL. She was my aunts retired horse and I was the only one who rode her, she bucked of my big brother when he tryed, and my cousin. Haha she was kinds like marrylegs in beauty and the beast. Lol

A cranky TWH gelding named Star. He was a babysitter, but still a grumpy fart. My friend, who introduced me to horses, still has him. He is about to turn 18, and I first rode him while he was 9. :]

The first breed I rode off leadline/pony rides was a little grey Arab gelding named Whitey. I think he was great for my first time riding on my own. He was great at neck reining and a great babysitter for my 7 yr old self. He's an old guy now though, hopefully I can get to my old barn to visit him before they sell him off or he dies, Id like to visit him. He doesn't go past a trot anymore, so I'm glad the owner doesn't put adults/teens on him anymore.

A little shetland pony named Ginger, but she was sold not long after. To much pony attitude. The pony I rode from 5 till I sold him at 8 0r 9 was a mutt. I don;t know how he was bred, he was probably some type of QH and draft pony cross, he was only around 13.2 hh but he worn all horse sized tack and shoes. Amazing barrel pony though

My first ride was a light grey Welsh Mountain called Silver, he was cute but grumpy... but of course as a school pony for beginners he was very calm although he will teach you how to bucked off with style :)
In my first year of riding I also rode cobs, riding ponies, new forests and quarter horses (in Canada, dont get many here :P)

My first pony on lead rein I'm not sure but I'm guessing she was a Welsh Section A and my first pony off lead rein I think was partbred Arab

Amber was a big, buckskin mare, probably QH. Started on her when I was 3, have pictures of me on her, no helmet, barefoot!! She would only walk with me. When I would try to get her to go faster, she would stop and hump her back a little to put me in my place and then continue on....... Next was a flea-bitten grey Arab mare who had been a broodmare, huge tummy but still gorgeous :) After that I got a cute buckskin pony of some sort who taught me how to fly! That boy could turn on a dime, rode bareback, got really good at hanging on until I got better at stopping him. His name was Rocket and it suited him! Still have scars but learned a lot from that pony!
