I recently bought a Paint and he is super smart - catches on to things in an instant. Someone at the barn said he's almost too smart for his own good. Is this a particular Paint trait? My QH was smart too but this guy even surpasses her in his ability to figure things out quickly. Anxious to hear from other Paint owners. thanks, Em
I have a pinto and she is the same way. I teach her how to do something once and she never forgets it!!!! ha ha ha :D
mm.. I don't think it has ANYthing to do with the breed - it's just like saying one race of humans is smarter than the other (which is NOT true!!)
Some Paints are smart, some take a little longer to grasp things, just like with just about any animal :)
Glad you got a smart one! :D
My Grade Paint is smart as a tack!
It could be a particular trail Paints have.
Like Arabians can be airheads
I don't think its a particular breed thing. I think it has a lot more to do with the general breed characteristics in general and will sometimes differ from case to case.
I have seen some really dumb tbs, others were brilliant. I have seen some really smart draft crosses, others were just plain airheads.
I once owned a tb who was absolutely a genius which had its pros AND cons.
To each our own. :D :D
I think it is an individual thing. Paritally nature, partially on how they were raised (curiosity was encourages...allowing them to try to figure things out). [/i]
I agree with AKPaintLover.
I think she hit the nail right on the head!
I was teaching my horse to follow my focus and touch what I'm looking at it and he got so into it that when I stared at the chair he ran over and used his hoof instead of his nose, and th en he started getting creative, he used his back foot, his bum, his shoulder all sorts of stuff. :} It was great fun.
I have a 2 paints. One is dumb as a rock. One is the smartest animal i have ever come across.
