Attitude Change.. a bit worried.

My horse Charm has been great all through training. Basically she has been one of the easiest horses I have trained. I have taught her everything from the ground up and I just broke her out last month (not even a month ago). I have gotten about 15 rides into her and she now knows how to calmly walk, trot, whoa, and her leg aids are getting pretty good.

The thing is, is that she has become cranky and irritable. I have owned this horse for about 2 years and know when she isn't like herself. She isn't in heat and I know she was about a month ago. She doesn't bite or anything like that she just is..... cranky! She wont relax and she usuallly is a really calm, generally happy horse.

Do you think this may be because I am pushing her to hard with training?
Or something else?

By the way I haven't switched anything in her normal schedule. Only one change to her feed and that was adding paprika for her black coat (could that be a problem?)

Thanks!

Is she only cranky when being worked or just in general?

If it's only when she's being worked, my first suspicion would be tack fit or soundness.

No, when working she usually settles down and gets to work but its when im on the ground either grooming, tacking up, or just leading her. She isn't pushy or anything like if she was disrespecting me, just cranky.

She is just a very unhappy horse right now.

She might be burned out. Give her a bit of break form what you you are doing.

The other thing could be hormones. How old is she?

She is 5 years old.

I was thinking she might be a bit burned out. Maybe Ill give her a week off to just be a horse.
