Not sure if in right area???
Im looking at a welsh/haflinger...I want to know, what kind of weight they can carry, he is a smaller, one, Im barely 5ft, maybe 110...on good days, 105..lol ...I think hes 12.3.....Am I too big, ?? Be honest...:) Hes a sweetheart and super gentle, and very level headed....Is that their nature??
Thanks in advance
Oh, been forever since I posted, all good here, except for Im sick:(
I think, if I remember right, the rule of thumb is that you can weigh up to 20% of their weight. So if your horse weighed 1200lbs, they could carry up to 240. Hope that makes sense I am horrid with math! ;)
Haffies are heartly lil buggers. We have a 13.2 haffie and I have taken him on trail rides. I am twice your size LOL. Im 5'8" and 200#. He carried me like nothing. While they are small...they are drafts and most are built accordingly.
They usually are gentle but most have some personality to them. My BO says they got the worst of both the pony and the draft. They can have stubborn, dull sided pony moments and they can be lazy plodding beasties like drafts. I find them super adorable and good solid trail mounts though.
That makes me feel better, I think Im gonna get him...:) Hes so gentle, and sweet, Hard to pass, up plus Im 45 and really its just farther to fall...lol
