I would definetely recommend an English type girth.... the one you're using now is a western cinch.... that's about all i know though, I'm a western girl 8)

yea i know it was something my trainer gave me she said something about it had an adaptor thing on it to make it work on an english saddle but its the type of girth that screws it up.

hmm, haven't heard of that before..... most English saddles have two billets, tie-straps, latigos.....w/e they are called, sorry I'm not English savy..... so I didn't even think you could use a western cinch on an English saddle..... I guess it's time for me to relearn all my English stuff

lol its ok hmm maybe i can find a pic where i can show you what i'm talking about....

i don't know if you can see but if you look closely there is a leather attachment to the ring that allows it to hook to the english saddle....

it looks kinda like this...

IcIc...... I think it would be easier and more effective just to buy an English girth.... looking at those it doesn't look like it would have the same effect either...... good idea wanting to get a new one

yea its mainly because i constantly have to fix it because it loosens itself. Also its bad because it could do damage to Junior back, girth area and much more the way it slides and on top of that he could get irritated with it and throw me.

yeah, new girth is probably a priority.... hmm, have you checked www.statelinetack.com they normally have good English stuff

mlkarel2010 03-02-2008 12:32 AM
