Since I had to sit and watch the girls today because Annalie got into the grain room I took pics.
Logan: Mommy can I walk the horses? (Yea I know he's barefoot I was being careful)
Me: Sure, here walk Arabella.
Logan: Thanks, mom.
Arabella: What the heck is this?
Logan: Come on Parker. (He calls her Parker, I have no idea why)
(he makes my pony look big)
On to Annalie, she wasn't a trooper.
Logan: Come on.
Annalie: No, you naughty little human!
Annalie: Well, if the tall one is leaving I guess I will too.
(he actually fell right after this picture because she took a step forward, that's when I made him stop, he's not yanking the lead rope it was very windy today)
Annalie: Is he gone?
Annalie: Hey wait up!
Here are some update fat girl shots.
What she did to the door. She has broken it 5 times! It was a newer door.
She managed to break the handle on the tack/grain room door. Don't ask me how. She destroyed it : (
So I was fooling around with Arabella and figured out she can PARK! I thought she was a Morgan X but now I'm thinking she may be a pure Morgan because who would teach a X to park.... I don't know.
That is One Fat Haffie! Yikes!
Have you tried an old fridge or freezer with a ratchet strap wrapped around it. We've tried it all as our haffie is an escape artist. An old fridge wrapped in a ratchet strap holds him off. Hes even stood on it and it wouldn't crack.
I know! I've cut her feed down to ONE FLAKE OF HAY A DAY AND NO GRAIN from two flakes and a handful of grain! Which could be why she got pissed off and knocked the door down to get to the grain after not having it for a couple days. We don't have any grass left in our pasture at all..... I've been working her at least 5 days a week. She just keeps getting bigger!
We put another latch on the big barn door and put in a new master lock on the grain room door because we didn't have a key to the master lock just the handle lock. The grain has been moved into the garage. Next year we are going to section off the area in front of the barn because we'll be building a lean-to which converts to two stalls. So she won't be able to get to the door unless we let her in that area. Hopefully that wards her off.
what gorgeous girls! your son is super cute. Did you get annalie preg checked yet?
She looks like she might be pregnant to me, how long have you had her? Is it possible?
And what a great way for your son to grow up. I would love to have the resources to have my own place that my kids grow up on.
The only way it would be possible is if she got pregnant by a horse that was recently gelded. The place I was keeping her at before we moved had bought a gelding from the auction that was gelded the day before the auction. He was kept in a stall but did manage to escape and he exhibited stud behavior. I've had Annalie for about 7 months now. Her old owners came out when they brought me Arabella and they think she is pregnant too.
The vet is supposed to come out on the 30th. Annalie has STILL not come into heat and my husband swears he saw something moving. So IDK.
Adorable! The haffie looks prego to me. I'm no expert, but I'd almost bet money on it. She seems to be eating a ridiculously low amount of food to still be gaining.
You can see the pasture in the 9th picture. We haven't had nice grass in a month or so because we haven't had much rain. When the grass started to disappear I started giving the horses another flake of hay to supplement. But since it looked to me like Annalie was still gaining weight I cut it back to only one flake of hay. They grain I was giving them was just a treat for coming when I call them.
This is her about a month ago.
This was her from behind about 4 months ago
Same time period from the side
She did not eat all that grass. We mowed about half of it on our highest setting shortly after these pictures were taken and raked up the clippings.
That Haffie SCREAMS prego to me - mostly from the behind and 3/4 behind shots. That's not a fat bulge, that is a LOW hanging baby bulge. Shay-las mom has a Quarab mare that's obese and she looks almost the same from the front and looks prego, but you can see the roundness and fatness to her all over. Your girl seems to have a very definitive low hanging prego pouch from the sharp angle of how her belly juts out.
I would definitely get her checked ASAP. I could be wrong, but I've seen a LOT of fat horses, and she should be evenly round if she's just fat, not be jutting out on the sides!
looks pregnant to me also. I suppose a gelded horse could have viable sperm in the ducts and tubes . When a man has a vasectomy, I think they say to be very careful for awhile to make sure all the sperm is gone..I suspect a horse would be the same. Guess a vet check is in order. If she is not pregnant and still gaining weight on so little feed, I would probably have her blood checked to make sure something is not causing her to continue to gain weight like her thyroid or something out of whack.
