Meet Maggie - new reiner =)
at least I think we're calling her Maggie.
She's a 6 year old mare by Smart Like Juice out of a Lil Ruf Peppy mare.
With limited showing she has about $2600 in earnings, she was shown by a Rookie.
The trainer we got her from said you can cruise around on her and score a 71 and if you push her you get a 73.
Rode her. Loved her. Sweet heart.
Definitely more horse power though and that'll take some getting used too. Juicier off your legs than I'm used to but thats okay.
She hadn't been ridden in a month and EVERYTIME I asked her to stop she drilled the ground.
I had her turning around pretty good and apparently she has three more gears to that turn around...
Here's a picture of her.
^Really doesn't do her justice.
Here's some I took of her but they are brutal ahha.
I'll get some new one when I get home - in Virginia right now.
Oh and we left Brandi in North Carolina =( I'll miss her but she'll have a great home.
Let me know what you think!
The only think that would worry me (if the picture angle is correct) is how downhill she is, and I'm pretty sure it's harder for them to sit back on their haunches if they're built that way.
I honestly don't think she is as bad as the picture but I also haven't taken a good long hard look at her just standing.
It would worry me from a picture, but after riding her I have no worries whatsoever about that haha.
Cute and sweet looking girl! You were in Va-live there? Always looking for more of us western folks! lol
She really looks like her breeding. She should make you a nice mount. It will take some time to get use to a horse who can score a 72-73. I know from experience. They are fun to ride but take some work to get with them.
She's a doll. Congrats!! :D
I actually live in ontario, we went to north carolina to look at horses. Then stopped in virginia overnight to cut off a few hours on the leg home
I'm type this one my phone so my grammar probably won't be the best ahah.
nrhareiner I totally know what you are talking about. She was nice to ride but still a lot of horse power. I imagine she can stop bigger when she is in shape. She's a lot quicker off you legs, lucky we have the whole winter to get used to each other. Its definitely a big step up and it'll take some time.
such a nice feeling when you have one that just wants to stop all the time
She does seem a tad downhill but i like her muscling. Very nice butt if i do say so myself ha ha! :D Very sweet looking face too.
I really like her; she is a bit downhill, BUT that said she has a low enough set hock to kind of 'off set' that fault... like her soft curious expression, and she appears very well cared for :D
The poor thing was so wobbly when she got off the trailer.
She didn't eat or drink as much as we would have liked over the 24 hours she spent on the trailer. But when we got her off she started drinking a bit which is all I care about.
