Watch youtube. Trick training a horse. Remember, what you teach him can reflect on his riding and his actions. I'm talking about, like teaching them to rear can have a negative effect, counting with his leg can lead to striking. Just be careful on what can come out of the tricks. I want to teach my horse to bow.

Yeah that's why im not alowed to teach my other pony tricks. I'm teaching my pony beacause he is basicly semi retired. My other pony before I got him was taught to count and every time he did he would get a treat and he is very smart so he thought he could strike to be praised.. But playboy ( the pony I want to teach doesn't do mug anymore, he had his day were he was a super star now I want to keep his mind stimulated. :D I want hint to leanr to lie down :p

Laying down is a comprimising situation for any animal. They are vulnerable and horses being prey items don't naturally lay down unless they feel secure. Naturally, an animal will lay down if there is another animal up watching for danger. So if he trusts you, you may get him to lay down on command. Good luck

i taught my colt to lay down on command. and honestly you can't just follow the horse around and when you see them lay down. say down and praise them. or they'll never learn. when you first teach a horse it looks quite cruel, until you can finally use no ropes to lay them down. what you do is stand on the left side of the horse. and with a halter on and a lead rope attached pull their head to the right by pulling the leadrope under them from the left side. while pulling the left leg slightly back. and eventually he will lay down. and immediately have the treat ready. at first they may go down hard. and it may take a struggle to finally show them the way. but eventually they will go down softer. i have sparta where i can use just a neck rope and pull his leg and he will lay down nice and soft all the way onto his side and then look at me like "treat!?" and then while they are down just give him alot of rubbing and love and then cue your command for them to get up. i think it took sparta at least 5 times of hard tries to get him to understand exactly what i wanted.

How old is your pony? If his joints are in anyway stiff personally i wouldnt trach him that trick as it mightt be quite painful for him being made lie down regualrly and get up puts alot of extra stress on older horses

He is 13 he retired early, but he has no problem with his joints .
