What color is out ApHC gelding considered?
This is Regal Joe's Wrangler (aka Shadow). We got him a few months ago and are still waiting on his papers, so we don't know what color he is officially considered. Im thinking some kind of Roan/Blanket? Perhaps grey roan? He looks very brown at points in these pics, but in person he is really dark but with a lot of black/grey. Kinda confusing haha. We are really curious to know...thanks!
Also, not the greatest pics but what do you think of him!? He belongs to my little sister, she bought him outright herself and you wont believe what we paid for him!!! Someone make a guess haha here is some info:
Weight: 1,150 lbs
Broke for an intermediate rider (still very spooky on the trail, switched from a hackamore to a bit, so working on neck & direct reining...otherwise he is amazing for being taken off of a 2 yr pasture!)
The "roan" that you're seeing on him is caused by varnishing, which is a pretty common gene in Appys. He'll varnish out more and more as he gets older. He looks like a Bay Varnish Blanket Appy.
Definitely varnish roan pattern going on. Right now he has a blanket, but he may not keep it! It's kind of hard to tell from these pics whether he is actually bay or dark liver chestnut...probably bay, but he seems more brownish red throughout than distinctively bay.
Where are you at in Colorado? I just moved here (Denver area) this summer, so am looking for more 'horsey' people in my neighborhood :D
