Horse Names (For Those Who Need Help)

Ok, I may be 14 but I am very deep and thoughtful about alot of issues so I decided to quickly cover the topic of horse names. I know you may ask "What should I name my new horse" and give us a picture but that is not all.

A horse's name is earned, it usually takes us a week to name foals.

Base the name on their personality and how they act. How they respond to new things they learn.

My past foal I named Stormy, because at his first experience of a rain shower he ran out and played in the puddles and caught rain on his nose. Even though our mare was begging him to come in the stall he stood out there and whinnied, happy as a clam.

My aunt's stallion, Rowdy, earned his named after when he was little he kicked everyone and would buck at any small thing. He'd try to run you over!

Ginger, another horse of hers but I consider close to me because I was the first human she smelled and saw, got her name because my dad said her palomino color made he look like a Ginger Snap cookie.

So if you ask our opinions please post their moods and pictures. Also I love naming horses with different languages. Egyptian, Dutch, Celtic, Native American, Spanish, Arabian, whichever you prefer.

I hope you take these things into consideration! I'd love ideas for our new foal when it is born!

Hi,
I can see your point. But the reason I asked for help with names was because it needs to begin with the name "Icon" on his/her passport. I was asking for idea's, as I'm not very imaginative when it comes to names.
I wouldn't dream of naming any animal, until I had seen and got to know him/her. Its just nice to receive idea's from people, so if anyone comes up with one that fits babies personality and looks then I may use it.

A way to get some good names is to look up names from different origins (different countries, languages etc). I'm the type to pick out those names that people wouldn't even think of. They don usually tend to be super good names but they are good names.

If you get yourselves a book of baby names you might be surprised to see what kind of goodies are sometimes hidden

Rick helped me name my new mare. He kept telling me names and came to Maaja (pronounced Maya). I liked the name instantly, except the spelling reminded me of Austin Powers "masha/fasha" ... so I changed the spelling to something unique. The first thing that popped into my head when I saw her was "wow.. Golden Girl!" so I named her "Maia Golden Girl" - my golden girl :)
Sometimes you just know it's the right name :)

Mmm. Some names I guess just come. You'll prolly notice something special, etc. about the horse and name him/her related to that. That's my thought anyway...
