Haylage?
 

Just wondering if anyone here feeds haylage rather than hay and what you think of it? I'm considering the swap for my horses and I have a friend who only has great things to say about it but was just curious if anyone else has used it and liked/hated it?

wonderful product, but I don't think a horse is supposed to intake more than 40% of his daily forage intake in haylage. also haylage spoils quickly and you only have about 2-3 days to use a product before spoilage occurs.

Thanks, we don't supplement with too much hay anyway (2 or so flakes a day per horse depending on how much grass we have). The friend of mine who feeds it uses a bag in a week on her two horses so I don't think I'd have too much problem with it spoiling (I have SIX horses!)
Do you find it works with fussy horses as well?

haylage is like beer - pretty disgusting to begin with but once you are used to it, they come running into the barn for it. Never seen an animal not like it!
