Pessoa lunging system?
So my mare has a hard mouth and evades the bit and just runs through it when I ride. i want to compete next year but need her responding and supple in her movements and to build some topline. Myf riend suggested this system and swears by it, what do you guys think?

What's stronger, your horse's back legs or her mouth? Every stride is just another jab in the mouth with lunge systems like that (I don't have experience with the Pessoa system myself, but in NZ the Kincade system is quite popular). The only lunge system I've used to any extent has been a chambon, which I found quite useful in encouraging a horse to stretch down and it can help build muscle along the back.

This is a quote I just found from another forum about the Kincade system. I would say that the horse in question moved like this because stretching forward appropriately was jabbing him in the mouth with each step.

Just my 2 cents worth....I hated it!!

I set it up correctly and had other experienced people double check just to make sure coz it made my boy move terribly.

He did round over the back and neck but made him on the forehand and didn't allow him to "push out" with his back legs, just worked like he had a stick stuck up his......

Nothing else to say...
