What does your instructor make YOU do?
When you're having a lesson what does your instructor get YOU to do/ work on? Not your horse.

My form, and breathing. When I try something new I have a tendancy to not breath and she is always reminding me to take a breathe.

I used to have a habit of holding the sabble horn, but I don't anymore.
Don't arnch my back, I lean forward like I'm roping. When I'm not roping, straight my back up.
Stand in the saddle when troting and loping.

i always have the girls I give lessons to ride backwards or sideways, I have work on balance and wht ever else they want to learn. I told em the once they have enough balance riding backwards at a walk and trot on the lounge line I'll let them go free haha they wanna be just like me and ride all the horses backwards and sideways.

I had to do lots of no stirrup work! Seeing I was coming off of not riding for almost a year....I hurt, a lot! haha Posting without stirrups is no fun.

I'm thinking of giving lesson to some friends on basics.

2-point 5 strides, sitting trot 5 strides, posting trot 5 strides. OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I hate it! SO MUCH! But she does it so I learn to pick up the right diagonals. It works, but it's tedious.

2-point lots of it 2-point trot poles sitting the canter. x-rails :) Some other stuff. Trying to be on the right Diagonal the whole time. Sometimes I do lunge work. I do lots of other little stuff to :)

we used to have no stirrup lessons.. if we can't jump without stirrups, we can't move up in height. one summer my saddle sat in the barn until a clinic, or a horse show because i only rode with a halter and leadrope. i'd do walk, trot, canter and jump clean 2'6 courses with changes and everything on my pony. so when the show came around i had complete control. i spent 3 months feeling the pony under me, so i knew everything about him. never clicked better.. or had stronger legs for that matter lol.

i work have to work on keeping my shoulders back, and hands still and steady. when i ride english, we ride without stirrips for 3 or 4 minutes at the sitting trot and then 1 to 2 times around the arena at the posting trot.
