Conformation and Pedigree Critique
There are a few things I am looking for specifically-
This mares overall conformation, (I am still learning on this so please be specific on what you mean)
What are the more serious/problem areas-
As for her pedigree, her sire's side isn't bad, But I can not find much on her dam's side. Any help on pedigree would be great. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/an+impressive+kiss
Here is a very short clip of her trotting, dont know if it will help or not.
I am sorry the pics are not the best, but we tried to square her up best as possible. Thanks.
Goer on her dam's side looks like he was a pretty good stud:
She looks like a pretty nice mare to me. What are you planning on using her for?
I got her as a trail horse, and then play around with some small time shows. I don't know if she has what it takes to do upper level halter. But she is quick on her feet and a quick learner, so going to play around with her for fun. I know she has run barrels and poles before and did fairly well, she was better at poles then barrels.
She is very pretty, her front legs look nice, she has a nice chest. It's not narrow or anything. It looks like she might be a tad bit cow-hocked. Her hocks are pointing in a little bit. She has a big head, and looks to have a short neck, of that is the edge of her shoulder in the picture.
I had a mare with Goer blood once. She was mean and had a very pushy attitude. She disliked other mares and would kick babies even if they submitted to her. The trainer said she was never fond of Goer blood. Just a personal opinion.
Dumb, obvious question, has she been checked for HYPP?
I love her trot! I think she will work out great for a trail horse.
Never heard about that with Goer bloodlines, she is not pushy at all with any handler, and she been trying to be friend with my other 3 and they keep being mean to her. When push comes to shove in the herd life she is not afraid to push back, but she has never started it. But I am separating her because I do not want injuries, kind of bites, she wants a buddy but they will not be friendly to her. (she is new)
This mare has never been bred, I would like to possibly breed her at least once, as the gal I got her from would like a foal out of her.
Right I know nothing about appy blood lines, I know the welsh cobs, connemaras, Warmbloods and arabs, but not appys so I'll leave that one.
I'm struggling to see her shoulder, I cant tell wether her shoulder is upright or if it is an optical illusion made by her markings.
I realy dont like her hind end conformation and I do have to say even if her blood lines are spectacular I wouldnt be breeding from her. She is not top quality enough and there are far too many average horses round most of which are going through sales.
Breed the best to the best and hope for the best. when you breed the best to the best the worst you will get is an average horse. Breed an average horse to a good horse and you could get an awful horse.
