Tooth Problem

I have a 22yr old mare that has just started with her teeth getting bad. I noticed it only when I would give her a treat. So had the vet out yesturday and had her teeth floated. The vet told me that the roots are getting shorter in the back causing them to loosen a bit. They aren't bad now but I'm worried when it gets to that time how I'm going to feed her. I know that I will have to wet her feed but the vet said to add alfalfa cubes or pellets soaked. She is so picky now, if I try and feed her the recommended amount she only eats so much and she walks away to eat hay. What am I going to do when she isn't going to be able to eat hay?

I have a 26 year old that has very few teeth. I actually don't have to wet his grain. I feed him the Triple Crown senior which is a sole source feed. I give him the alfalfa cubes in a seperate feed dish, those I wet down. Although if I don't wet them, he'll dunk them in his dish on his own, the problem with that is his water gets pretty icky. He does really well eating though. He still tries to eat his hay but all he does with that is chew it into a cud and spit it out. I do give him a very small amount of hay because he enjoys chewing it but he gets no nutritional value out of it.
