Pregnant?

:-oi have just got a new horse called maggie, she is 14.2hh skewbald gypsy cob,im not positive but i think she may be pregnant, i rang the owner and hse said it was very unlikey as they had tried to cover her last year and she wouldnt cover.

She is very large, her flank has dropped and i can see movement, this movement has been comfirmed by 4 other people that they can they the movement.
Her teats are very large, and when you squeeze them colostrum comes out.Her teats are also covered in a sort of wax glaze.
She has started to kick her belly also.
Before i waste my money on a vet, can anyone help me in this matter?
Is she defernatley pregnant?
She could be having a fantom pregnancy also as she has had other foals in the past and one could have been taken away to soon.

Would love for some imput here!
Thanks!

If you're not sure get a vet out. A person on here won't be able to give you an informed opinion if they can't see the horse. Vets (for a single visit) are actually quite cheap when you look at how much you spend on feed, agistment, travel etc.

well i just wanted to see what people said, before i decise to get a vet out :)

you should of ask in you pre purches vet check!! it's always some thing i ask the vet to do when looking at buying a mare.....if you think she is then it is vital to get the vet out to take a look.

Waxy teats were the first sign the vet I worked told me to look for...that meant a foal was usually going to come within 24 hours or so. Not sure if a mare can get this sign without being pregnant.

How often is she kicking her belly? Could she have eaten something she wasn't supposed to? Is she lying down at all?

How long have you had her? Is it possible she recently weaned a foal?

Every time i go down, i see her kicking her stomach at one point.
I have had her 3/4 weeks no foal.
She has had foals in the past but has not had one in the past year, as the owner tried to cover her earlier this year and was inable to cover her apparently?

I would definitely call out a vet. There could be something whether she is pregnant or not. Even though she didn't take last year that does not mean she couldn't have this year.

My mare kicked her belly constantly when she was pregnant, especially in the last 2 months. Feeling for movement is the best way, as sometimes the horse's belly will twitch & look like a babie's kick. Waxing is ususally something they do right before birth...
