I haven't been out there in a week. But no foal, still. I'm starting to get a little bit worried, since she was due a week ago. However, I very limited foaling experience! I really hope all will go well.
I have several "twelve month mares" and they absolutely SUCK. My foal watch on them is twice as long. And I don't have electricity in the foaling barn, so no cameras. Just good ol' fasioned every hour(or so) treks to the barn until it is time for dad and mom to wake up.
Alright. I know I'm being a little (maybe very!) obsessive, but I don't know the last time she foaled. I'll keep you all updated. It would be so cool if she foaled tognight, though, because that would mean a easter baby!
OH man, it is SO easy to get anxious over a baby. When Daniel was born, even though I had been there for MANY births from other mares and at least six that year, the fact that it was my mare and MY baby, I was SO nervous. Thank goodness my mom was there as a buffer for me. I think I asked "Mom is she okay?" about fifty times. She was a maiden, but showed all the signs of a "Typical" mare and not a stereotypical maiden. She showed early, she got a bag in good time, she waxed up, and she foaled right on time, a year and a day after my dog was born.
Do you have any pictures of her from behind or any of her bag? Has she waxed up?
If you would like I can send you pictures of my mare the day before she foaled.
I haven't been out there yet. Ugg, I really wanted to but since my family celebrates Easter and this is the only day I could go out there, I didn't. I check in with her owners a lot. So I don't know what she's like right now.
But yes - it is very easy to get nervous! Luckily she's had two foals before, so I'm not as worried.
That would be really nice to send some pictures. PM me if you'd like.
CONGRATS TO WAYMORE WELSH on their arrival of a sorrel filly with a star and socks, named "Waymore We Can Fake It". She was born at 9:55am on March 27, 2008!
Pictures will follow!
(I'm going out there tommorow or Saturday, but the owner will send me pictures today)
megggymoo - I HOPE she will hurry up...I'm watching your topic.
Magic - Yes, "Olive" is adorable (they named her Olive because of her eyes).
That's her all fluffly and dry.
A little wet!
I will try to get some more pictures tommorow when I see her (again). But she's so sweet and adorable. She has great confo for a welsh pony and is a total cutie.
Ahh, thanks Vida! Yes, her owner keeps singing that song. Her name is Olive (mainly) because she has greenish eyes (olive green, really). I'm super excited to watch her grow up, I love seeing that. She does look like her mom.
