This girl obviously has a fabulous trainer.

that was a really cool video. I didn't know (from the title and description) that she lost her stirrups, i thought she chose to do it stirrupless, but regardless the only way you knew she lost her stirrups were because they were flopping around.

Kudos to her!

I've seen that video - it's so amazing. She has a great leg over the fences with our without stirrups!

Or a ton of natural talent... that's stunning.

AND a huge amount of talent.

She probably did a lot of barebacking. I mean, I learned bareback and I can sit a huge buck bareback and without stirrups. I haven't tried jumping though. I'm going to train my horse to jump. I haven't started yet.

Her legs are very strong. I think I might have tried a little harder to get my stirrups back, but she didn't need them. It's sad that at the very end she fell after going through all of that.

A lot of Hunter/Jumper trainers do a lot of no stirrups. That probaly helps, too.

Supermane 03-24-2008 02:15 AM

Yeah, my trainer took away our stirrups for a month last year. That was fun...

And great video. Says a lot about the horse as well as the rider, both of mine would have taken off if the stirrups were swinging like that.

Really, anybody who is jumping should build up a strong enough leg to be able to do that! Not to diminish her talent or effort, it's just something we should all aspire to. What a round! I just hope that she was actually finished with the course before she left the ring and fell, so that it all still counted!

Her cool head is to be commended more than anything ... she took some pretty serious bucks, lost her stirrups, and just kept going like nothing happened.
