Why do horses nudge??
I know this may be a stupid question but today I noticed for the first time and I am a newby to horses with so much to learn but I stood with him for some time just patting him and talking to him. I noticed he started to nudge me when I stopped patting him. He didnt nudge in a way that he wanted to bowl me over or hurt me, it was kind of cute but Im not sure why he does this.

Its kind of a sign of disrespect. I know its cute but you really shouldn't let your horse do it. They think different then we do. Its easy to think that they just want more pets or that they love us but in the horses mind they are saying "lets see if I can push you around" Make sense?

Disrespect? I don't think so. It's generally an i want attention for some reason thing.
Your horse was prob trying to tell you to keep patting him. My old horse used to do this when i would be talking to someone, he would nudge me for attention. Not really a bad thing. Just them saying "hey, hello"

Thanks you guys. I have heard and read up and a lot of people seem to say it is disrespect and a lot say it is an attention thing.
