Help! - riding in the snow

I have been given the option of riding my loan horse tomorrow but the field that I could ride in has about 1ft of snow on it. Should I ride him tomorrow or is it a bad idea? I really need some help on this! Any opinions would be brilliant!

A lot of people ride in the snow. It's certainly not something about which you should be overly concerned.

My only real concern is that there might be ice underneath the snow but thank you for the reply (:

I'd test and make sure that it's not too slippery, or ask, other than that you'll be fine. When the snow is deep it's best to walk or canter rather than trot...prevents strain on the joints, same as riding in anything soft enough where you can't hear their feet hit the ground!

Spray a little Pam or put Crisco in his hooves. It will keep snow from accumulating.

i ride in the snow everyday the only thing you need to be concerned about it when its deep snow and the top layer has melted it gets crunchy and can cut up your horses legs

And obviously, only ride in areas that you know what the footing under the snow is. Not the time to go investigating a new path through an area that might have debris or such that would hurt your horse.
