My gelding's wonky legs
 

Anyone else notice how off his legs seem or is it just me? He looks over at the knee, sickle hocked and cow hocked, and his left leg looks thinner than his right. I know these aren't good confo shots, guess I need to get some.

He is an odd looking potatoe. How old is he? He is slightly over at the knee, just slightly. He is cow hocked and very post legged in the rear. Is he full grown? I bet he's a real sweet heart , tho, isn't he?

I agree with Tiny. Is he still growing? By his conformity it almost looks to me like he's still in build, which could be a part of his "wonky" issues. His hind right doesn't look too horrid to me (in the first picture it appears he's turning toward you, which may aid in making the leg look 'crazy').

For example, I almost bought a 3-year-old gelding named Dixon. As you can see, he's clearly still in build, judging by his age and his high rear end (which generally suggests there's still some growing to do). It was the same way with the gelding yearling Thunder Wolf, who now -- at 5 years of age -- has evened out as far as height of rear/withers has been met.

This is unrelated, so I'll make it fast...

In regards to Dixon, some horses never grow out like the champion pleasure QH Shoulda Astor Faster. In some horses it's just a confo fault.

He's not even two yet. The more I look at his legs the wonkier they look.

I sure hope he grows out of them. I'm almost afraid to work with him because I feel bad for his legs. He just looks unsturdy to me. Maybe it's cause I'm getting used to the little Haflinger ponies with their sturdy little legs.

He's still young, but his confirmation does look a bit 'wonky.' I don't think he's going to outgrow it. But if he's sound I don't see why he wouldn't make a nice trail horse. If you were thinking about using him as a hunter-jumper I don't think he would be well suited for that.
