Critique me jumping please
This is me & Stuart. He is a 13 year old QH gelding. We have not had lessons in over 3 months...
And one of me jumping Rosie
I only picked up on two things, in the first video, where you cantered over the jump, you seem to pump with your hands. Keep them steady so your horse isnt getting little tugs on his mouth. And on the last video, with rosie, you got a little ahead of her. You went into jumping position before she took off. Some horses, when going over higher fences, will slam on the brakes if you do this because by getting ahead of them you put more weight on there forehand and they dont think they can jump it. Just make sure you dont go into jumping position untill the horse takes off. Other then that, well done!
Agreed with the above post, and I think you could release a little more with your hands at times. But other than that, you maintain a good position, it is nice to see you not over jumping your pony, and I think you look good. Keep working, and you are doing well.
I the second video I noticed that He started to shake his head after the jump. It looks like you didn't release so he got a good bump in the mouth. Be sure and give him that release.
You loook pretty good. I like that your lower leg is in the exact same position over the each jump. And your heels are down and toes are forward.
Thanks for all ur help!!!! oh and in the second video it is really hard to see but there is a little slippery spot and we happened to hit it. and ya when i looked back at them I noticed some things too!!! THANX stuart says thanks toooooo.
I think you did really well. I dont' think you were pumping with your hands, but rather with your body. Maybe just pumping a tiny bit more than necessary to stay with his motion. He isn't very forward, so it doesnt' give you a lot to follow. I bit more umph from him will make it easier for you. You are doing super!
Your leg is awesome! So is your amount of bend for the size of the fence!I'm impressed! Good job!
If you were jumping bigger, more release but not in these videos...like everyone said work on the pumping with you body/arms. :D
Thanks once again for the advise il use it wisely:) and ya he is very lazy but sometimes he is amazing or goes too fast. Also he does much much better with bigger jumps he is more of a 2'6" to 3'0" kinda horse.
