I got a super cute 12.2 welsh/hackney pony for kids to ride when they come over.... But....im wondering if I jump on him sometimes if it could harm him? I am about 5'4-5" and approx.125lb.....he isnt really, really stocky, but he is not a fine built pony either. I jumped on him bareback today and he did awesome..I just didnt ride him long because I felt kind of bad. Though he didnt seem to have any trouble holding my weight. He is 12 Years, too.
So in all honesty could I hurt him by riding him sometimes?
Definitely not! Ponies are built for bearing a lot of weight. I'm 5'10" and 115 and I broke my 10hh Shetland. I've also been known to sit on my 8hh miniature once in a while ;-). As long as it doesn't feel like he's struggling to hold your weight or have obvious reluctance to trot/canter, you're fine.

Thanks! Thats what I was thinking...but wanted to check:wink: i would feel awful for hurting the little fellow. I wont show him or anything...hehe...but maybe a short ride here or there.
Thanks thats my arab Nimir being a bit skeptical about his new bosal...lol
There's no way you're too big for that pony! 5'4 isn't overly tall, and 125lbs isn't heavy. I mean, sure you'll look a little silly at the very worst, but there's no way you're too heavy! Sounds like a gorgeous pony, by the way!
aww...she isn't ugly at all! She looks adorable!!!
