Breaking in tall boots
So I got my boots for show season.

I got these:*/406.0

My first show is in three weeks. If I ride 4-5 times a week will they be completely be broken in in three weeks?

I've never broken in boots before. What else can I do besides riding and walking in them?

I wasn't able to open the link! What brand are they?

I think 3 weeks should be plenty of time to break them in! But time varies by brand and leather, and how broken in you want them. After about 3 weeks of riding my Ariats were soft enough to show in, but still rubbed the back of my ankle if I walked all day in them.

To help them break in faster I would put some sort of conditioner on the inside (inside only!) of the calf and around the ankle. Like a Lexol type leather conditioner or I use hand lotion (I don't like Lexol and someone told me that hand lotion absorbs into the leather better so I tried it and have to agree!). Also fold the top over (so it bends at the ankle) and put them under your bed or somewhere similar overnight so the leather will soften at the ankle. In the meantime I use Saddle-Tite or Sporty-Haft to minimize the sliding!

For some reason the entire link isn't clickable or whatever you want to call it. You'll have to highlight it, copy and paste. Then it'll work.

I don't have any leather conditioner but I do have hand lotion. I'd be a little paranoid about using it though. I'd hate to risk ruining my boots.

Luckily I didn't have any problems with the slipping. But I had the hardest time feeling my heel. I had no idea if it was up or down.

How do you keep them folded over without holding them?

haha, I broke mine in in a week! lol!

-Use one of those things that go inside a mens shoe (like a manican shoe that goes inside a shoe or anything you can find to hold the boot so it's bent at the ankle) that worked for me!

- wear them ALL the time! (I wore mine when I got up, to when I got in bed)

- Soak them in warm water with your foot in them (I know it sounds silly, but it WORKS!)
