Coolers

My horse is body clipped but he tends to sweat even so.
I know 'coolers' are an acceptable solution. I was hoping to learn if they really do help absorb the sweat and aid your horse in drying.

If so, does anyone know of a site that sells some nifty coolers.
I have seen Dover's, but nothing too exciting.

Thanks

I actually used a large polar fleece blanket before I was given a few coolers from a relative. It served its purpose fine, although it tended to blow around (because it didn't have any straps), which might scare some horses. I now have a Big D double thick polar fleece cooler, and I love it. I have a flannel one as well, but it isn't quite as warm. I'm not sure where you would buy these though, as they were given to me.

I use a fleece cooler and it works. You can actually see and feel the sweat coming through it.

I know Smartpak has a line of coolers (or as they are sometimes called, dress sheets).

I have found both wool and fleece coolers do a great job of wicking the moisture off the horse while keeping them from getting a chill.

Fleece is easier to care for as you can toss it in your washing machine.

I have this blanket which I won at a show but have never found use for it.
Would this be considered a cooler?
Dover Saddlery | Wool Dress Sheet .

There is a need to put a cooler on your horse before packing him up in his blankets and leaving for the night ?

I feel so dumb http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...20Mine/meh.gif.

Yeah that would be a type of cooler. And you should try to get the sweat of a horse before putting a blanket on as they will get a chill and get sick.

Yes, a dress sheet is a cooler, a nice fitted cooler.

I do not dress my horses in their coolers. They do get very moist from the sweat. I put the cooler on while I am cooling the horse out. Once the horse is dry and cool they can be re-blanketed into their normal layers and the cooler put some where to dry.

Thank you!
I am excited that I now have a use for it.

OP...I have a blue cooler I will sell you if you are interested.

It does have embroidery on it but can probably be removed if you wanted to.
