Anyone else have a horse that can't eat haylage?
My 11 year old tb can't get haylage as it gives him a sore tum and makes him colicly. Tryed mixing half hay half haylage but he still gets a sore tummy and in a few occasions properly colicked, luckily he recovered. So Hugo is banned from haylage and gets only hay, but it's a pain as haylage is more plentyful round here than hay. I'm not sure why he colics, I'm assuming its just too strong for him. So I was wondering if anyone else has had similar problem? Sorry for the lack of paragraphs, wrote this on my blackberry. Kay

Well haylage is not really meant for horses (I do know that some people do feed it)......but I can understand why your guy can't handle it.....it is basically hay that has started to ferment......plus I would imagine that it is really high in sugar due to the fermentation process.
