Quitt and other wood chewing solutions?
My horses have always chewed on my barn when I have them in the paddock (which is late fall to early spring otherwise the pasture gets ruined) but in the past the stuff that you paint of the fences has always worked. This winter however I can't seem to stop them. They have completely distroyed a ton of the trim boards and some damage has been done to the boards that make up the barn itself. Also the fences have some chewing damage as well. I have put the chewing stop stuff on the fences and barn atleast 2 times (maybe 3) in the last 2 months or so. They seem to just ignore it now. I don't want to use tabasco sauce because I've heard that it just washes off with enough rain.

I believe the problem is because they are in a relatively small space and because there is no grazing. When they are on pasture they don't chew on the wood at all. They are currently getting 2 flakes of hay twice daily. I can't feed them free choice hay because they just drag they hay out into the mud and ruin half of it. They get a small amount of beet pulp daily. They were getting a supplement designed for horses in the NW with selenium, magnesium and vitamin E in it, but they dont get it anymore.

Anyways, has anybody had success with Quitt? Or do you have any other solutions that may work?

Rub a bar of soap over them. I don't know how well it lasts in the rain though...
