how much do you think misty is worth?
how much do you think she is worth my friend that trained her thinks she is to much for me and could be a threat. she's had training here and there. two people i have paid for training. she is also a young horse age 7. grade horse.
Well she's certainly pretty.
Is she broke to ride or just trained on the ground so far as that will greatly affect her worth at that age. Most people prefer to start a horse under the age of 5 i've found.
As for the video, she looks to be very good on the ground, although the handler tends to jerk on her head a bit much when she starts to get nervous or uncertain...
If she's not broke or only green/started then around my area she'd be worth maybe $1200.
yes she was just started to work under saddle for about two weeks now but the person who trained her wants to buy her.
What, other than the fact that she's green, makes the "friend" think she's too much for you? She seems to be above average for a young mare in training. I was impressed with the videos; she is a beautiful mare, moves well and seems to be very sane, and a good worker. If you're a beginner rider, I can see that it would be better if you weren't 'green on green.' Howevr, I have to say that my first thought was that anyone who wanted to buy her from you before she's finished with her training, supposedly in your best interest, is either scared to death for you, or is impressed by Misty and wants her for themselves and is trying to scare you into selling her cheap. Do I sound paranoid?
FYI - In the midwest (Missouri-Kansas) where I live, the going price for well broke grade horses is usually far less than the cost of the training. It's not unusual to see prices of $800-1000 for registered, dead broke horses. It isn't hard to find young ranch-trained horses for around $1500.
it wounds understandable
Horses are pretty cheap around here, too. But I do think she is gorgeous and seems very calm and good under saddle for a younger horse.
How much a horse cost to buy, plus the training is pretty much almost never an accurate way to determine what the horse is worth.
I would still stay around the 300$ mark. She's being retrained. Thats different then greenbroke in my opinion since shes smart and kinda "been there" persay. And she does need an experienced rider. Her training needs to be continued and I would hate to see her go back to the original Misty.
(not trying to sound rude)
Is that you riding her in the video? If so then you are doing a great job and she looks calm, relaxed and responsive. If you keep going in that manner she won't be too much horse for you I wouldn't think.
Do you WANT to sell her? She looks like a nice little horse and unfortunately she probably isn't worth much dollars wise. Some horses far exceed their monetary worth just by being good, honest horses though. Just a thought.
