Quick Question of Age

Is a 17 year old TB that has had 1 baby 5 years ago too old to be running in barrel shows with 130 pounds of me on her back?

Not if she's sound. :-)

I don't barrel race, but I do trail ride for 3-5 hours at a time. My current riding horses are 17 and 18. You are a featherweight compared to me.

Any type of speed events are hard on their legs though, so just make sure she is sound and holds up okay.

Age is irrelevant to some extent...look at her overall health/condition.

Like most people said- if she's sound that shouldn't be a problem.

Not to mention I know some 'older' horses who do better if they are kept in work rather than being retired.
