Shameless Self Promotion
Last night was the Snohomish Land Nav Class at the Snohomish, WA Library.

It was a hoot! We all learned quite a bit and had a good time doing so. One lucky individual walked away with a free Troxel trail helmet!

We went into depth on the topics of:
· Interpretation of topographic maps; Helping the trail rider can visualize the terrain while he/she is planning a trip.
· Declination and why failure to adjust for it can be cause for seeing a lot of unexpected country.
· Compasses; How and why they lie

At next month’s Snohomish Library we’ll dive deeper into:
· Taking and shooting azimuths
· Finding where you are on a map and determining how to get where you want to be

You can see some of what we cover here: TIPS to KNOW and LEARN

Some comments from participants:
“I am really enjoying this series, I look forward to next month’s gathering.”

“Have a better understand on how to read a map. Looking forward to next class when we will do more hands on.”

“I love this class! Informative and very entertaining. I have learned many things that I "thought" I already knew. I am looking forward to our next installment!

Wow what a great class. I didn't want it to stop at the end :) Looking forward to the next class!”

Bearing this in mind I’ve been asked to visit the Cincinnati, Ohio area in March to teach a few of these classes to trail riders there.

If you’re in the Greater Cincy area please let me know if you’d be interested in attending, I’ll get a link out to you with more details.

The classes are benefiting Cincinnati Therapeutic Riding and Horsemanship, a NARHA facility that provides riding lessons to children and adults with disabilities.

Your activites sound like so much fun. I lease a horse who is a pretty good trail horse (sometimes ditzy, but pretty sure footed). He isn't mine, but I am allowed to trailer him out, BUT I dont' have a trailer. Is there any way to join you guys on trail rides , like hitch a ride with someone comeing from my area? Bridle trails.

wow wee that sounds like great fun!!! My 8th grade science teacher, Mr. Carson, introduced us to topo maps and I remember some of it. I would love to take a course on this!
