Sew to sell, but what??
So I have a good sewing machine and enjoy using it. I was thinking of sewing some things and selling them here and on Etsy, but the problem is... WHAT?
At first I thought of really nice, original and thick saddle pads, (I had another thread talking about this) but those might be too much work to make in large amounts.
Now I am thinking of polo wraps (super easy and quick to make), although there are already a good amount of people out there who sell homemade polo wraps (if I were to do that they would have to be pretty **** amazing to get any particular attention).
So ya... advice would be appreciated, and any ideas for what I could sew and sell would be great too! Something useful that people will see and say: Hey, those look awesome and I could use one!
Thanks a lot. :D
Ok,I am going to brainstorm, so might be garbage that comes out of the ol' noodle.:
stirrup leather wraps, changeable browbands, bit warmers, "ouch" pad covers (for those things you chill and put on an ouwie), wild rags (large western style bandanas), hat bands, bit bags with pockets for each bit and can hang on a hook (like shoe bags?), Cell phone holders, hay carrier (like those things people used to use to carry an armload of logs to the fireplace and keep their arms clean)
I wonder if it would work to do like a duvet cover, for wester plain wool felt saddle pads. It would be really thin, so horse would still benefit primarily from tthe good wool, but would keep grime off and add pzazz.
Ok, my noodle is soggy, time to wathc some tele and go to bed.
saddle blankets, neck rugs, hay bags, bridle bags, saddle covers
depends how good you are lol you could possible make rugs
If I knew how to sew, I would be sewing a lot of 3-tube tail bags.
The tube tail bags area a good idea (really easy to make).
Ohhhh, changeable brow bands are awesome! Problem is how do you make them? There are beaded kinds but they are specially attached to the brow... hmmm.
Thanks for all the ideas! And if anyone has an idea of how to make a changeable brow band (simple way), share away!
So I thought of the brow band, and figured I could :
1. It would be a piece of material (sewed in a tube) and nicely decorated and then you slip it on the brow.... or velcro it?
2. Uuuh, well still thinking. :/
I also don't have a bridal which complicated my life. I'll have to use my barns bridals to see.
uggggh what's with all my mistakes! Must be because I am tired. I MEANT to write: which complicatES my life, etc.
Or I can do this:
But the Questions is, what do you use for the brow band end? And where do I buy that little thing that attaches the beaded string to the band end? OUf, I have a lot of thinking to do...
That's why a sewn fabric one would be easier. It would either velcro around or slide over the browband pice. since they are so easy to sell, make three different ones and sell them in packs of three. Or add mathcing cheek piece covers that allow people to accessorize. I am not into that, but I know a lot of teen riders would.
You could even make matching hair scruntchies.
That's a really great idea! Thanks a lot Tiny! :) I will experiment and then try them on my lesson horse.
Only thing is that I need the measurements. I found a website that gives them and they say this:
1st measurement is noseband, second brow band, and third is cheek piece.
OVERSIZE 13" 16.5" 11.5" FULL SIZE/HORSE 12.25" 15.5" 11" COB 11" 14.5" 10" PONY 10" 13" 8" SMALL PONY 9" 12" 7"
Only problem is i don't know from where they are measuring. :/
