Our mare just had a beautiful young filly on the 3rd of this month, We can touch her anywhere on her body, but no matter how hard we try she won't let us near her face, we have started her on halter leading and she's doing great but this problem still persists.

If you get the halter on her, just have someone hold the halter and rub around her neck and all over her body and slowly work your way up to her face.

Harlees right, it just takes time and lots of "touch and retreat". Say if she doesnt like her ears touched, go up the neck to the ear and retreat over and over. Then to the face, nose etc.
I was going to say to give her food when you do but she is probably still nursing.
Approach and Retreat would most definately work. I would only retreat when she calms down though, like approach and if she is calm retreat, if she is panicky, slide your hand back just a little but keep contact until she is okay and then retreat so that way she realizes when she stays call you leave her alone and when she is panicky you don't.
Well ladies you are so right there is no better way that i know of then slow and easy and retreat and try again time is it that is what makes this site so great good honest common horse people that have the know how to work there own horses and help others :D :D :D
